What are the DNOS goals?

Provide public education about issues, policies and concerns affecting people with disabilities and their families.

Provide and publicize a toll-free telephone number to access information about DNOS and share disability related concerns.

 

bullet

Provide forums for information sharing and education for individuals with disabilities and their families, including conferences and workshops where people  can learn from one another, share experiences and develop networks.

Educate and provide information to federal, state and local legislators and public officials about issues and concerns affecting people with disabilities and their families, including funding for programs benefiting people with disabilities  and the impact of legislation on individuals with disabilities, particularly in: employment; health care, independent living; housing; public transportation; architectural and attitudinal barriers; access to recreation facilities and activities;  and the impact of federal, state and local rules on people with disabilities and their families.

Provide all necessary and reasonable accommodations to people with disabilities so that they might fully participate in the activities of DNOS, and encourage other organizations to do the same.
