The AXIS Center is uniquely qualified to serve as conference manager from two standpoints: experience in managing large conferences and knowledge of people with disabilities. Sue Willis brings more than 35 years experience in communication and design services to this project. Her user-friendly products and events have been recognized by many organizations, and the Columbus community awarded her "Woman of the Year" for many of her volunteer activities. She holds BA and MA degrees in design and communication from The Ohio State University. Past conferences that AXIS has either produced or assisted with include: annual conferences for the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council on employment, voting, Medicaid Buy-In, housing, transition, and other topics; Governor's Council on People with Disabilities annual meetings; theOhio Olmstead Task Force legislative trainings; the Ohio Domestic Violence and Disability Task Force conferences; the Ohio Disability Vote Coalition's statewide conferences; Rehabilitation Services Commission's Gateways Conferences; Kent State University's 9th Biennial Conference; and many others.
The conference manager was selected through an RFP process and is funded through a grant from RSC. The conference managers will build upon past efforts of Disability Network Of Solidarity (DNOS) to ensure the conference is a valuable learning experience for individuals of all disabilities.
